Charlie Stinson Obituary

Charlie Stinson entered eternal rest on Monday, October 28, 2024, at the age of 84. Beloved son of the late Dave Stinson and Minnie Ola Seamster Stinson. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, JoAnn Cyriaque Stinson; daughters, Ne' Aundra and Felicia F. Stinson; siblings, Edgar Taylor, Mary Milton and Willie Ann Wiley. Also survived by 2 granddaughters, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and friends. Charlie, nicknamed "Mickey" was a native of Cullen, LA in Webster Parish and graduated from Charles Brown High School in Springhill, LA. He enjoyed a long career with Kansas City Southern Railroad, beginning as a switchman in 1969 in Shreveport, LA. He would later transfer to New Orleans, LA where he became a railroad engineer and retired in 2002. Charlie was well loved and will be forever remembered as a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. Charlie liked to travel. He also liked to read non-fiction books mostly about African American history. His other hobbies included going to the gym, walking and riding his bicycle for exercise. He had a love for music of all different genres and of course dancing. Charlie was a very compassionate, giving and talkative person. No one was a stranger. He enjoyed mentoring young men and women and became a father figure to many. All are invited to attend the funeral. A Celebration service honoring the life and legacy of the late Charlie "Mickey" Stinson will be held at Pilgrim Baptist Church, 2114 Rev. Richard Wilson Dr., Kenner, LA, 70062 on Thursday, November 7, 2024, at 11 am, Pastor Rev. Dr. Mitchell J. Stevens, Sr., Officiating. Visitation 8:30 am in the church.
