Clara Ann King Martin, a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2024, just five months shy of her 100th birthday. A life well-lived and cherished, Ann's legacy will be remembered by all who knew her.

Ann is survived by her son Thomas Robert Martin and daughter-in-law Shirley of Lexington, KY; her daughters Debbie and son-in-law Fred Uhl of Palmyra; and Ronda and son-in-law Phil of Lexington, KY. Her memory will be cherished by her grandsons Christopher Scott (Rebecca), Ted Martin, Matt Martin (Gwen), Nate Uhl (Jennifer), and Greg Uhl (Sarah), along with her great grandchildren Phillip Scott, Tyler Martin, Ella Martin, Emma Jane Scott, Gabe Martin, John Thomas Martin, Samuel Scott, Evan Uhl, Lainey Uhl, Griffin Uhl, and Teagan Uhl. Also surviving is her sister-in-law Mary King.

Ann graduated from Morgan Township High School in 1942 and married her high school sweetheart, Calvin. Together they lived in Palmyra and Louisville, eventually returning to Palmyra upon Calvin's retirement from General Electric. Ann also worked at the Olin Corporation in Charlestown for a time. Her family fondly remembers their joyous boating trips to Dale Hollow and Cumberland Lakes, enjoying ski boat "C DART" and "Happy Hours" houseboat.
Known for her hospitality, Ann's home was a gathering place for family reunions where fried chicken, deviled eggs, angel food cake, and chocolate brownies with green icing were always a hit and lots of fun games were always played. Her love for card games, particularly euchre and pinochle, and her unbeatable skills in Scrabble always made her gatherings lively and memorable. As her great grandchildren affectionately put it, "Gigi is really fun and sassy!"
Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 25, at the Palmyra Methodist Church from 1:00 to 3:00 PM, followed by the funeral service. She will be laid to rest in the Palmyra Cemetary.
