Clinton Dale McCallister, age 75, of Black Mountain, NC, passed away on August 11, 2025, at the VA Hospice Center in Asheville, NC.

Mr. McCallister was born on December 5, 1949, in Lincoln County, West Virginia. He moved to Black Mountain, NC as a teenager and lived in WNC for the entirety of his adult life. He will be remembered for his unwavering strength, quick wit, and generous heart. A devoted father, proud veteran, and loyal friend, who touched the lives of everyone that knew him. His love for family, sense of humor, ability to speak volumes without saying much, and ability to make others feel seen and valued will be cherished forever.

Clinton was a veteran of the US Navy for 33 years where he served in the Vietnam War and was a Chief Petty Officer. After his military career, he was employed with Alliance Carolina Tool & Mold in Arden, NC and then he retired from Kearfott in Swannanoa, NC.

He is preceded in death by Clinton McCallister (Father), Bernice Hauth (Mother), Brenda Moseman (Sister), and Linda Rice (Sister).

Left to cherish his memories is his son, Clinton Todd McCallister and wife Jennifer McCallister of Fletcher, NC; brother, Lowell "Bo" Burwell and wife Zola Burwell of Panama City, FL; and grandchildren, Carson Andrew McCallister, Carlee Alyssa McCallister, and Caelyn Aubree McCallister.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery on Friday, August 15, 2025, at 2:00 PM with his brother, Lowell "Bo" Burwell officiating.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the VA Hospice Care personnel in Asheville, NC.

Todd and Family,
We are saddened to hear about Dale. He was a member of our family
for a long time. We always loved him and even though we didn't see
him much, we thought the world of him. He was a really nice, kind
man. He has left this world a better place for us all.
I know you and your family will miss him. He was always so proud
of you and his Grandchildren.
We love you, Todd.
