A Life Well Lived
With heavy hearts and profound sorrow, we remember our beloved Connie Mae Stegall Winfrey, who entered her heavenly home on October 13, 2025, at the blessed age of ninety-seven (97). Connie was known for her warmth, kindness, radiant smile, and the unwavering love she extended to her family and friends.
Connie was born on August 10, 1928, in Forrest City, Arkansas, to the late Charlie and Lettie V. Stegall. At an early age, she dedicated her life to Christ as a member of New Sardis Missionary Baptist Church, where she remained a faithful servant until its closure. A devoted member of the New Sardis choir for much of her life, Connie shared her gift of song with joy and commitment. She was also a proud graduate of the Lincoln High School Class of 1947.
In 1947, Connie was united in holy matrimony to Charley L. Winfrey, and to this union, seven (7) children were born.
Connie was a loyal member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Boyd Chapter 106. She was employed for many years with Sanyo Manufacturing, formerly known as Warwick Electronics. Upon her retirement, she enjoyed traveling with her children and spending precious time with those she loved. Connie especially cherished moments with her grandchildren and took great delight in gatherings with her large extended family.
Connie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charley; her oldest daughter, Debra Winfrey; and a bonus son, Clinton Winfrey, Sr.
She leaves to cherish her memory one (1) son, Gary Winfrey of Forrest City, AR; and five (5) devoted daughters: Beverly Ashley of Atlanta, GA; Lettie Winfrey of Little Rock, AR; Cathy Winfrey; Sherri (Albert) Carr; and Cheryl Winfrey, all of Dallas, TX. She also leaves fourteen (14) grandchildren, twenty-five (25) great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends who will forever hold her close in their hearts.
"Well done, good and faithful servant Enter into the joy of your Lord." - Matthew 25:23
