Cynthia Rebecca Collins (nee Gerlich), known as Cindy to her friends and family, passed away after a brief illness on July 13, 2025 in Naples, FL. She was 75 at the time of her death.
Cynthia was born in New York on August 9, 1949 to parents Henry E. Gerlich and Carmen Brito Gerlich. She honorably served as an Air Force Captain from 1978-1981, receiving an Air Force commendation medal.
Cindy was a Nurse Practitioner and received her Doctorate in Nursing from Catholic University of America and spent the majority of her adult career teaching the next generations of nurses. She was also an active member of the Sigma Theta Tau Nursing Society.
Cindy was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Henry Gerlich. She is survived by her only son, Jason Collins.
Cindy was laid to rest in a private service. In lieu of flowers or arrangements, please consider donating to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), Mental Health America (MHA), or the Anxiety and Depression Association of America (ADAA).
