Also, preceding Bud in death were his parents, infant son, James, and brother Jack Stobaugh.
Surviving are his children, Michael A. Stobaugh of Bartonville; Patricia St. Tourangeau of Corvallis, MT; Timothy J. (Janice) Stobaugh of Elmwood; six grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
He began working for the Caterpillar Tractor Company, on February 6, 1950. He retired as a technical writer in the service information department in January of 1991, after 41 years of dedicated service. Bud voluntarily enlisted in the United States Air Force on April 4, 1951, and served during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged on November 13, 1953, and held the designation of inactive reserve for 8 years until the end of the war. He was a member of the Farmington City Council and served as the City of Farmington Police Commissioner for 8 years. He was elected to a 2-year term as Mayor of Farmington on April 1, 2003, and served 2 four-year terms. He was a member of St. Matthews Catholic Church in Farmington, Farmington Moose Lodge #1571, St. George Council 4th degree, Canton Knights of Columbus, American Legion Post # 140, and member of Fr. Daniel Sheehan Council Knights of Columbus.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, September 11, 2024 at St. Matthews Catholic Church in Farmington. Father Timothy Nolan officiating. Burial will follow service at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Farmington, IL. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Tuesday, September 10, 2024 at Anderson-Sedgwick Funeral Home in Farmington, where reciting the rosary will be at 7:00 PM.
