Dana Burns Obituary

Funeral services celebrating the life of Dana Wesley Burns, 55, of Etna, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, May 6, 2024, in the chapel of the Kirkersville home of HOSKINSON Funeral and Cremation Service, with burial to follow in the Kirkersville Cemetery. There will be light refreshments served at the Kirkersville Methodist Church immediately following the burial. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until time of funeral services at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home, 285 East Main St (US Rt. 40) in Kirkersville.
Dana was born December 12, 1968, in Burbank, California. He passed away on Sunday, April 28, 2024, at his residence. He was the son of Ronald Franklin and Laverna Fern (Wears) Burns. He was a graduate of Northland High School, Columbus, Class of 1987, The Ohio State University, and had worked as a Columbus Police Officer until being injured on the job. He also worked as a dispatcher for NetJets.
Dana enjoyed hiking and backpacking. He was a private pilot and loved to fly. He went Jeeping in Colorado and loved his horses Junior and Nala. He was a member of the Police and Fire Retirees of Ohio and was a huge supporter of "Wreaths Across America".
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife the former Cheryl Allen, whom he married on July 25, 2007, his daughter Morgan, his brother Matthew Franklin Burns and Matt's children Ava Lillian Burns and Kellen Franklin Burns, and many extended family members.
The family prefers that memorial contributions be directed to Wreaths Across America. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
