Daniel Jacobs Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Kern Funeral Home on Oct. 8, 2024.
Daniel "Dane" Jacobs, age 46, of Mount Vernon, Washington, passed away peacefully at his home on September 21, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Dane was born on April 27, 1978, in Mount Vernon, where he spent his life building deep ties with his community, friends, and loved ones. He attended Jefferson Elementary School, LaVenture Middle School and Mount Vernon High School where he excelled academically and athletically and made lifelong friendships.
On April 9, 2005, Dane married Brianna Hoover, and together they raised three beautiful children-Dylan, Bodey, and Adia. Dane was a devoted husband and father, and his greatest pride came from the time he spent with his children, watching them grow and supporting them in everything they did. He was their biggest champion both on and off the field. To know Dane is to know the love and pride he had for his family.
Dane worked for 18 years as an electrician, most recently with Mills Electric and was a proud member of the Local IBEW 191. Dane was known for his commitment to serving others. Dane was passionate about youth sports, spending countless hours volunteering, coaching, and supporting local athletes. He had a unique ability to inspire those around him, always pushing others to reach their full potential. Dane was champion for all.
Dane was a standout athlete himself, having graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1997. Dane excelled in football and baseball, and is in the Mount Vernon High School Sports Hall of Fame for earning All Wesco League in football and baseball his junior and senior years. He later went on to earn a bachelor's degree in Exercise Science from Central Washington University, further fueling his passion for sports and fitness. Whether it was coaching, working out, or listening to his favorite music, Dane was always active and enjoying the outdoors.
But perhaps Dane's most treasured moments were the simple ones, spent with his family-searching for beach glass on Mexico vacations, days at the baseball fields, hikes with Bo, and lazy days boating on Baker Lake. His presence will be deeply missed, but the love he shared will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
Dane is survived by his beloved wife, Brianna, and their three children, Dylan, Bodey, and Adia. He is also survived by his mother, Lynn Jacobs, his brother, Jamie Jacobs, nephews, Wyatt and Owen, his brother Brandon Hoover (Jessica) nephews, Beckett, Madden, Braxton, and his sister Karissa Sokol (Brad) nephews, Kaden and Kai. He was preceded in death by his father Lannell "Lanny" Jacobs, (2015) who was his hero and best friend. His family meant everything to him, and their love and support carried him through life's greatest joys and challenges.
A memorial service to celebrate Dane's life will be held on October 20th at 3:30 p.m. at Bethany Covenant Church in Mount Vernon, 1318 S. 18th Street, Mount Vernon, WA. A live stream of the service will also be available. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Mount Vernon Conway Youth Baseball in honor of the Dane Jacobs Memorial Scholarship, (PO Box 2408, Mount Vernon, WA 98273) so his legacy of supporting young athletes can continue for years to come. Donations can also be directed to a college fund established for his three children at any Savi Bank (Account: Brianna Jacobs). Your generosity in honoring Dane's memory will help keep his passion for youth and sports alive for future generations.
Dane will be remembered for his big heart, his selflessness, and his unwavering love for his family and community. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, strength, and inspiration that will never be forgotten.
