It is with great sadness that the family of David Brown announces his passing on September 15, 2024, in the evening at his home surrounded by his family. David will be greatly missed by Kathy his wife of 50 years. Fondly remembered and loved by his children, son David Brown and wife Heather a grandson Keenan a granddaughter Ally Spanglo and Husband Zack with great granddaughter Everly. Son Jeffery Brown and wife Jackie and grandson Avery. Daughter Lacey Dry and husband Jessie with grandchildren Colton (My Buddy) Addison and Jessalyn.
David was born to Gearl and Maxine (Hubbell) Brown on March 8, 1954, in Fairland, Oklahoma at Doc Stacey's office. His parents are now deceased. Older siblings of David's are Mary Cates, Claude Brown, JoAnn Hinds, Lonnie Brown, Gearl James Brown-deceased and younger brother Don Brown.
Many cousins Nieces nephews and dear friends. David grew up in the Miami area on the family farm. When he ended his high school years as a Miami Wardog, he continued his education at NEO A&M College. As he attended college, he met the love of his life Kathy Gandy, and their journey began. David played flag football, boxed Golden Gloves and played on a football team that played against prisons. He traveled across the country riding bare back broncs. They began their family, and his hobbies changed to his children. David Coached T-ball, little league and All Stars. David was a team parent to Lacey's Competitive Soccer and traveled the US with her. As the kids grew so did Dave. He wanted more for his family. He became a licensed electrician working for IBEW. Moving to become a contractor in thirteen states and owning Continental Controls Inc. His love was at home with his cattle and wild mustangs. As Dave and Kathy retired their dream was to travel with Oklahoma Equestrian Trail Riders Association, which they joined years ago. Dave enjoyed his church family and Sunday School Class at First Christian Church in Miami with his friends. Dave's words were to his family and friends were, "If ever there's a tomorrow when we're not together, there is always something you'll remember about us." Family and Friends whose lives David touched are invited to his Celebration of Life.
Visitation will be Wednesday, September 18, 2024, from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at First Christian Church in Miami.
David's services will be 2:00 PM, Wednesday, September 18, 2024 at First Christian Church in Miami with Mr. Keenan Brown officiating. Interment will follow at the Glen-Abbey Memorial Garden east of Miami under the care of Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Miami.
Casketbearers will be Avery Brown, Jessie Dry, Colton Dry, Keenan Brown, Zack Spanglo and Don Brown.
Honorary Casketbearers will be Claude Brown and Kenny Marshall.
The family has asked that in lieu of flowers please make contributions to the Fairland 4-H program.
