David Lon Hewlett, born to Alonzo Thomas and Hazel Ora Jensen Hewlett on March 21, 1934 in St. George, Utah, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 6, 2024. Known lovingly as David, he was a resident of Perry, Utah, and a beloved part of the community.
He was a graduate of Box Elder High School and cherished his memories from his time there.
David was a devoted husband to Ada Hadley for 69 cherished years, having married on December 17, 1954 in Elko, NV. Their love was later sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
David was a proud veteran, having served his country in the US Navy from October 15, 1952 to August 9, 1954.
David's professional journey was just as impressive as his personal life. He began his career as a Science Teacher at Box Elder High School, later serving at Thiokol Chemical Corporation, Edgerton, Germeshausen & Grier Inc., and finally retiring as a Safety Manager from Northwest Pipeline. His dedication to his work was recognized when he was awarded the American Society of Safety Engineers--Safety Professional of the Year in 1985. Despite his busy work life, David found time to enjoy life in Brigham City, Utah; Las Vegas, Nevada; and Perry, Utah, making lasting memories and lifelong friends along the way.
He is survived by his wife: Ada Hadley; his children: Kayleen (Ken) Reese, David (Kelly) Hewlett, and Danielle Laursen; 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
David was preceded in death by his parents: Alonzo Hewlett and Hazel Jensen; his sisters: Beth and Barbara; and a beloved granddaughter: Kassie.
David's family would like to extend special thanks to Beth Jolley, Kevin Davis, and Miller Atagi at Suncrest Hospice for their dedication and care.
