David Murray Obituary

MURRAY, David – of Utica, age 77, died peacefully on September 11, 2024, surrounded by the love of his family. Honoring his wishes, cremation will take place and there will be a Celebration of Life held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorial contributions to the family for future designation.
David was born June 28, 1947, in Detroit, to the late Gerald and Winifred (Bridges) Murray. He attended Utica High School where he received his high school diploma. David honorably served in the United States Army as a communications Sergeant overseas in the Vietnam War. After his discharge from the Army, he attended the Detroit police academy where he became a certified police officer. David worked for the Detroit Police Department from 1971 until his retirement in 1986. He enjoyed softball, bowling in his early years, Oreo cookies, and shopping at Menards. Above all, David was an incredible grandfather who always looked forward to spending time with his boys, Calvin and Charles.
David is forever remembered by his Children: Dawn (Nicholas) Dekalita and David Murray; Grandsons: Calvin Murray and Charles Berry; Brother, Michael (Janice) Murray; Several nieces, nephews, extended family, and beloved friends. David was preceded in death by his Parents, Gerald and Winifred; Sister, Jane Raymond.
