Arlies Winstead Fortune, affectionately known as “Jug,” passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at the Deaconess Midtown Hospital. He was 61 years old. Jug was born to the loving family of the late Arlies W. Floyd and Thelma Rose Floyd. He was truly admired for his warm spirit and positive attitude. Arlies graduated from Henderson County High School in 1982 and honorably served in the United States Army Reserve at Fort Dix, New Jersey for several years. His professional journey included dedicated work as a custodian at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital and several other healthcare facilities, where he was known for his hard work and commitment to those around him.

A man of faith, Arlies accepted Christ at an early age and became a baptized member of the Calvary Missionary Baptist Church. His faith guided him throughout his life.

Arlies was an avid UK Basketball fan who also had a passion for NFL Football. He loved spending time with family and friends, enjoying activities such as playing cards, dancing in his unique style, and making those around him laugh. His joyful spirit and love for life left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Roy Fortune Sr. and Lorene Fortune, Arlies Winstead Floyd Sr., and Edwina Parker Floyd. Jug also mourned the loss of his stepbrother, Richard Greene Jr., and his longtime companion, Terri Rollins-Pike.

Arlies leaves to cherish his memory his beloved sisters Felicia Hill (Rev. R.T.), Tiffany Savage (James), Shanta Floyd, Simone Floyd, and Alexis Floyd; and brothers William Fortune (Michele), Mel Floyd (Tracey), Pierre Floyd (Sharnate), Arlando Floyd (Anniegracie), Kye Floyd (Brittany), and Alex Floyd. Additionally, he is survived by his stepfather, Donald Ray Thomas; stepdaughter, Lasandra Cooper; special cousin, Clarence Floyd; and stepsister, Shannon Hayden (Shawn), along with a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss him dearly.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Anwar and the medical staff at Deaconess Chancellor Center for Oncology, as well as the caring doctors and staff at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital, for their support during this challenging time.

Arlies Winstead Fortune’s legacy of love, laughter, and faith will forever remain in the hearts of those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
