Derek Fletcher Obituary

Derek Ross Fletcher was born May 31, 1983, in Pontiac, Michigan. He went to be with the Lord on November 4, 2024, in Nashville, Tennessee at the age of 41. Derek was raised in Ortonville, Michigan and graduated from Brandon High School. He was a true scholar and loved to learn. Derek went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Carson Newman College in Jefferson City, Tennessee and a Juris Doctorate from Appalachian School of Law in Grundy, Virginia. Prior to moving to Nashville he spent 15 years living and practicing law in Charlotte, North Carolina. Derek was passionate about social justice issues and enjoyed engaging in political discussions. He loved to travel and had the chance to do so many times throughout his life. His spirit was strong, and his soul was kind.

Derek is survived by his loving wife Kristy, parents Larry (Pamela) Fletcher of Tucson, AZ and Terri Gross of Sterling Heights, MI, sister Carly (Neal) Mahedy of Fort Mill, SC, grandmothers Juanita Gross of Sterling Heights, MI and Emma Fletcher of Warren, MI. He is survived by loving in-laws: Gail (Harold) Taylor, Gary (Ramona) Witzgall and Alex (Tanoa) Witzgall of Nashville, TN. Treasured Uncle of Fisher and Fletcher Mahedy and Chiele Witzgall. He is also survived by countless aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was cared for deeply by those who knew him and will be greatly missed. He is preceded in death by grandfathers Omer Fletcher, Denzel Gross and brother Brandon Fletcher.

A visitation will be held at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home on Friday, November 8, 2024, from 9:30am until the hour of service. The funeral service will begin at 11:30am in the chapel with Brother Randy Clark officiating. Burial will follow in Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens at 12:30pm.
