Diane Ardelle (Wrage) Chamberlain, 84, of Grundy Center, Iowa, passed away peacefully in her home on February 13, 2024. Diane enjoyed her involvement in church and community activities, raising her children, and her role as a loving homemaker. She has been cremated with internment to take place at a later date. A visitation will be held on Sunday, February 25, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Abels Funeral and Cremation Service, Engelkes Chapel in Grundy Center. Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice and Gideons International.

Diane was born on June 7, 1939, on the family farm south of Lincoln, Iowa, the daughter of Fred and Bernice (Lage) Wrage. She graduated from Gladbrook High School in 1957 and went on to graduate from Simpson College in 1961, where she majored in home economics/fashion design.

Diane was united in marriage to Wayne Chamberlain on June 17, 1961, in Lincoln, Iowa. They first lived in Alexandria, Virginia, where Wayne was stationed in the Army from 1961 to 1963. Diane was a secretary for the Air Force Division at the Pentagon during that time. They returned to Lincoln where they raised corn, soybeans, and hogs on the Wrage family farm.

As a member of Salem Church of Lincoln, she was active in chancel choir, Living Branches women’s group, Quilters Guild, and church board.

Over the years, Diane contributed her organizational skills to a number of community projects and events. She enjoyed baking, sewing, canning, gardening, and watching sports. Diane also loved planning family vacations and traveling with Wayne to agriculture conferences and meetings across the country.

She and Wayne retired to Grundy Center in 2017, where she was a member of First Baptist Church.

Diane is survived by her husband Wayne of Grundy Center; daughter Janeen (Doug) Stewart of Waverly, Iowa, and son David (Renee) Chamberlain, of Gladbrook, Iowa; five grandchildren Michelle (Zach) Rubin, Shannon (Brad) Maas, Katie (Jeff) Davis, Paul (Rachel) Chamberlain, and Matthew Chamberlain; and three great grandsons River Rubin and Rohan and Dax Chamberlain. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Patricia Oettchen.
