Seekonk - Donald H. Brown, 93, former General Manager of the Woonsocket Call Newspaper and National Production Director of the Goodson Newspaper Group, died on Sept 18th 2024.
He was the husband of Mary Joyce (Matthews) Brown for 72 years. Born in Lincoln, Rhode Island, the son of John and Madeline (Hilton) Brown, nephew of the late Phillip & Doris Holt.
He resided in Seekonk for 67 years where he served as a Special Police Officer and Boy Scout Leader.
He was a Photographer's Mate 2nd Class, United States Navy Reserve Veteran for 6 years and began an apprenticeship at the Pawtucket Times Newspaper in 1950. Don was a 32nd Master Mason, a member of the NETOP Masonic Lodge and the Eastern Star Lodge AF&AM, Rehoboth, The Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonary Valley of South Eastern Massachusetts, Cumberland Beagle Club, and Woodworker's Guild of RI.
He was a man of faith and an active member of Memorial Baptist Church. He was co-trustee of the Issac B. Lawton Charitable Trust for 23 years and served in many roles and committees.
He leaves two sons, Douglas S. of Seekonk and David W. of Cumberland, RI, four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Don Brown was a true American success story. He was an inquisitive person who was fascinated with technology. He was a NO NONSENSE, GET IT DONE RIGHT! type of man. He was deeply devoted to God and his family. He will be dearly missed.
Services will be private. Funeral arrangements are entrusted with WILLIAM W. TRIPP Funeral Home, Pawtucket.
