Donald Franklin Stuff, known to family and friends as Don, 86, of Mercersburg, PA, entered eternal life on October 9, 2025.

Don was born July 19, 1939, in Chambersburg, PA. He was the eldest son of the late William G. Stuff and Lois Greenawalt Stuff of Mercersburg, PA.

He graduated from James Buchanan High School in 1957 and was an active member of the Future Farmers of America (FFA). After graduation, Don went to work for Fry Coal & Stone, first as an applicator of agricultural materials and later as a salesman. In January 1962, Don married Connie Marie Ward. Together they raised four daughters. That same year, he joined the Air National Guard as a flight medic and proudly served with the Air Force for six years. In 1985, alongside his wife, they bought Agronomy, a subdivision of Fry Coal & Stone. He managed the business faithfully with a supportive spirit, having walked many acres of fields across both Franklin and Fulton Counties, until his retirement in 2020, at the age of 81.

Growing up on a dairy farm shaped Don's lifelong love of agriculture. His first venture beyond dairy farming was growing tomatoes, alongside his brother, Richard, for the Heinz company. After marriage, Don and Connie purchased a farm where they raised crops and raised Angus cattle. When Don inherited his first tractor, an Allis-Chalmers WD 45, from his father, it marked the beginning of a lifelong passion for collecting Allis-Chalmers tractors and memorabilia. He also enjoyed trap shooting, collectables, and a good cigar.

Always reminding one to "keep busy," he was inspiring and motivational. He was also known as an honest, hardworking and dedicated businessman, who gave generously of his time and leadership. He served with organizations including the Lemasters Ruritan, the Mercersburg Sportsman's Association, Penn Ag, the James Buchanan School Board, Franklin Learning Center, Associate board of the First National Bank of Mercersburg, and lifelong member of both the Mercersburg American Legion and VFW. He was also a member of St. Stephens Lutheran Church, Upton, PA.

Don is survived by his wife of 63 years, Connie Stuff, and four children: Cheryl (Wayne) Henry, Cody, WY, Melissa Stuff, Ft. Loudon, PA, Donna Fields, Ft. Loudon, PA, and Ann (Greg) Burgard, Shermans Dale, PA; two granddaughters: Maggie Gayman, Cody, WY and Sarah Gayman, Littleton, CO; four brothers: Richard (Janice) Stuff, Huston, TX, Carl (Joyce) Stuff, Mercersburg, PA, Rodney (Darlene) Stuff, Chambersburg, PA, Marshall (Susan) Stuff, Mercersburg, PA and three sisters: Janet (Kenneth) Myers, Chambersburg, PA, Elaine (Bob) Harris, Williamsport, MD, Barbara (Bill)) Kann, Chambersburg, PA and his beloved black labrador, Dewey. He was preceded in death by a sister, Charlotte and husband, Bill Foster, Long Beach, CA and a son-in-law, William Fields, Ft. Loudon, PA.

The family will receive friends November 20th, 2025, after 9:45 AM followed by a memorial service at 11 AM in St. Stephens Lutheran Church, 8835 Lemar Road, Upton, PA with Reverend Martin Horn and Reverend Dr. W. David Kent, officiating. A reception is to follow. Graveside services with military honors will be private at Fairview Cemetery, Mercersburg.

The Stuff Family would like to extend their gratitude for the compassionate care to the staff and volunteers of Mercy House. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Donald Stuff to Mercy House of Chambersburg, 730 Norland Ave., Chambersburg, PA 17201.
