Donna-Rae Standley Obituary

Donna-Rae Standley, long time resident of Redding, passed away on November 7, 2025 while in hospice care. She was in classified advertising at the Record Searchlight for many years, even managing the department for a time. Born in Oakland, she lived in Shasta County for most of her life, and loved the area. A graduate of Enterprise High School, she worked in San Jose and studied at San Jose State University for a brief time before returning to Shasta County. She enjoyed swimming, boating, camping at the beautiful lakes, even rafting on the Sacramento River with friends. Donna-Rae started with a tent, moved up to a little travel trailer and later a camping van. She travelled around California and to other states towing her travel trailer with her dogs (Paco and later Tobe). Although not one to cook very much, she enjoyed collecting interesting cookbooks with family histories of old recipes, or histories of the areas where the recipes originated. An avid reader and fond of writing she often wrote poetry. Sadly, her later years were marred by declining health, and her outdoor adventures were no longer possible. Eventually even writing became difficult due to extreme physical weakness and during her last years she was confined to a wheel chair. Interment was private and no services were scheduled at this time.
