Dora Gayler Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hiett's LyBrand Funeral Home on Nov. 5, 2024.
Dora "Jean" Gayler, 87, of Wills Point, Texas, passed away peacefully on November 1, 2024, in Greenville, Texas. Her cremation arrangements are under the care of Hiett's LyBrand Funeral Home, with her ashes to be interred alongside her beloved husband, Dan, at White Rose Cemetery. At this time, no services are planned.
Jean was born on May 17, 1937, in Canyon, Texas, to Marvin and Teena Dora (Brooks) McAtee. Raised in Canyon, she graduated from Canyon High School and went on to marry Garland Dan Gayler on April 1, 1955. Throughout their life together, they moved across the country due to Dan's work, but in 1996, they found their forever home in Wills Point.
A devoted homemaker, Jean was an active member of Lake View Baptist Church, where she found joy and community. She had a passion for gardening and cherished quiet moments spent watching television.
Jean is preceded in death by her parents, Marvin and Teena McAtee; her husband, Dan Gayler; her granddaughter, Amy Waller; her brother, Mike McAtee.
She is survived by her son, David Gayler and his wife, Gloria, of Wills Point; her granddaughter, Krista Lea Waller of Dallas; her grandson, Jeremy Waller of Princeton; and her beloved great-grandsons, Dalton and Waylon, also of Princeton; along with her brother, Gary Lee McAtee of Corpus Christy.
