Doris Karas Obituary

Doris Karas passed away in her sleep on July 31, 2024, at Greenwich Hospital. She is now going to join her husband of 72 years, Gerald Karas, who passed away on July 27, 2020.
Doris was born in New York on January 16th, 1925, to parents Charles Erath and Emma Schalk. Doris and Jerry grew up in Queens, New York. They met at a WWII canteen for service men in New York where Doris volunteered. They were married on December 7, 1947. They started their family in a ranch house in Massapequa, New York. In 1968, they built their dream home in Pound Ridge, New York which they had discovered 20 years earlier while on a church camping trip from Queens to The Ward Pound Ridge Reservation. They decided then-and-there that someday they will move to this beautiful place in "the country." They lived in Pound Ridge for over fifty years. Doris will be buried beside Jerry at the Pound Ridge Cemetery.
They were well-loved and will be missed by their children: Kenneth Karas and his wife Celestle (Katie) Karas, Keith Karas and his wife Patricia Karas, Kristen Woll and her husband David Woll. They will also be missed by grandchildren: Kristoffer Karas, Jeremy (Rob) Karas and his wife Annie Ruonavaara and their children (Tae and Kai), Bryan Karas and his wife Leslie Karas and their children (Harper and Mason), Lauren Karas and her husband Alan (Charlie) Retzlaff, Scott Karas, Greg Karas, Joseph Woll and his wife Veronica Fletcher, and Charles Woll.
Doris and Jerry are "on the road again," together.
The family will receive friends on August 2nd from 4:00 - 7:00 pm at Clark Associates Funeral Home, 4 Woods Bridge Road, Katonah, NY.
The Service will be celebrated on August 3rd at 10:00 am at Clark Associates Funeral Home, 4 Woods Bridge Road, Katonah, NY 10536. Interment will follow at Pound Ridge Cemetery, 15 West Lane, Pound Ridge, NY 10576.
