Dorothy Helen Berryman, 95, of Kerrville, Texas, passed away on July 30, 2025, at her home. Born April 2, 1930, in Coleman, TX to Wesley and Susan Rains, Dorothy's life began in the shadow of the Great Depression. Soon after her birth, the family moved to Arkansas, where she spent much of her childhood. Her early years were shaped by resilience-growing up during the Oklahoma Dust Bowl, the loss of an older brother during the Spanish Flu, and the resourcefulness demanded by World War ll. She learned to work hard, grow her own food, sew her own clothes and face life with grit and determination.

Dorothy was a strong, independent and sharp-witted woman. She served as County Treasurer of Kerr County for over 20 years. She was a proud Republican, a supporter of the NRA and a woman who believed in doing things right the first time. She also served as Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star, a member of the First Baptist Church, and enjoyed the friendship and competition of her Bridge Club and a good glass of wine or two. She was also a gifted cook and seamstress.

Dorothy found lasting companionship with Robert Berryman with whom she shared over two decades of love, laughter and adventure. They traveled the world and enjoyed many friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband and siblings - Mark Rains, Paul Rains, Sarah Grace, Charles Rains, Hugh Rains, Betty Synder and Joe Rains and two infant siblings.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Don McMinn, Jr., Brenda Hardy (Paris), and Norman Hilburn, Jr. (Kathy); her grandchildren, Kasie Dailey, Keri Parrish (Brandon), Nathan Hilburn, Trey McMinn (Hailey), and RJ McMinn; her great-grandchildren, Genevieve Abigail Hilburn, Kylee Hilburn, Alexis Koch, Kaden Hilburn, Caleb Dailey, Rachel Dailey, Ava Parrish, Levi Parrish, Oehler Ott McMinn, and Otto Real McMinn. She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews, each of whom held a special place in her heart.

Dorothy lived a life of resilience, service, and strength. She will be remembered for her genuine friendship and generosity, her unwavering faith in Jesus Christ Our Savior and the love and devotion she gave her family.

Memorial services will be held at 2 PM, Saturday, August 30, 2025, at Grimes Funeral Chapels.
