Dorothy Hill Obituary

Dorothy Tyler Hill, 87, of Rock Spring, Georgia went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, March 13, 2025. She was born to the late Franklin and Bessie Tyler on June 9, 1937 in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Dorothy grew up in the North Georgia area graduating from Lakeview High School Class of 1955. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church of Lakeview for over fifty years. Dorothy had a fondness for serving in Children's Ministry and she was a forty year member of The Scenic City Sweet Adeline's. Dorothy was active in First Baptist Lakeview's CIA (Christians in Action), with her love for the Haitan people showing through multiple trips to Haiti as well as other mission trips to New Orleans Louisiana, Gulfport Mississippi, and West Virginia.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy is preceded in death by her Husband, Walter Hill Jr.; brothers, Billy Tyler and Edward Tyler. Those left to cherish her precious memory are her son, Guy (Kaye) Hill; sisters, Avanelle Skelton and Essie (Jim) Schewe; sister-in-law, Virginia Tyler; two grandchildren, Bryan Hill, and Amanda (Greg) Clark; three great grandchildren, Georgia Hill, Tristan Clark, and Kevin Hill; several nieces, nephews, and other extended family members and friends.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 19, 2025 at Lane Funeral Home and Crematory South Crest Chapel with Pastor Patrick Cooper officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday, March 18, 2025 from 4:00 – 8:00 PM and Wednesday from 12:00 until the funeral hour. Interment will follow in Dietz Cemetery.
