Dorothy was born in Denver, CO to Albert and Mildred (Brugger) Baker. She was the only daughter along with 3 brothers; John, Jim and Mike.
Dorothy was crowned Queen of the Cupid ball in 1965 and she was the president, reporter and district representative for the FHA (Future Homemakers of America) club. She graduated from Cherry Creek High School in 1965 and then attended beauty school after graduation.
In 1964 she went on a blind date with a young man that worked at the Rocky Mountain Arsenal and found the love of her life, Carl Reichow. They married in the summer of '65. Then they moved to Chicago, IL when her husband got a job with United Airlines. A year later they were able to move back to Thornton, Colorado where they started their family. They had two daughters, Debbie and Candy. Dorothy was a homemaker and stay at home mother. Mom provided us with a welcoming, loving home. She was always home when we arrived from school and a snack was provided and waiting for us. She was diligent having a square meal provided by 5pm.
Dorothy was devoted to spending time with her family and helped take care of her precious grandchildren when they were growing up. Being a Grandma and Great Grandma was one of her utmost cherished titles. She would go camping, fishing and boating with her husband, family and friends. She also was a meticulous seamstress. Her seam ripper was the most used tool in her sewing box. Later in life she started quilting with her daughter Debbie and her quilting friends.
She was a member of the Loyalty Chapter #152 Order of the Eastern Star. When her daughters were involved in Job's Daughters she held several positions including guardian for Bethel #37. A co-leader for Girl Scouts and also a room mother at Thornton Elementary.
Dorothy was a loving, caring and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt. She touched so many lives and made this world such a better place having her in it. She was a best friend to many and will be truly missed.
She is survived by her daughters Debbie & Paul Wegener and Candy & Terry Powers. Grandchildren Jessica (Wegener) & Mike Kawano and Cody Powers and great grandbaby Kinsley Kawano. As well as a brother in law, David Reichow and sister in laws, Dianne Baker, Karen Reichow, Carol Strong, and Sandy Reichow. Along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceded in death by her father and mother, Albert & Mildred Baker. Brothers; John, Jim and Mike Baker. Also her husband, Carl Reichow of 51 years. Never to be forgotten her grandson, Lucas Wegener and granddaughter Brianna Powers which left a hole in her heart.
A memorial service will be held on March 23, 2025 at 2pm. Chapel Hill Church of the Nazarene, 10 Chapel Hill Drive, Brighton, CO and a reception will follow afterwards at Brighton Elks Lodge #1586, 101 North Main Street, Brighton, CO.
Interment will be at Fort Logan National Cemetery Monday, March 24, 2025 at 1:00 pm.
