Dorothy Elizabeth Turner, 72, daughter of Richard & Kathleen (Pittman) Embrey, was born May 9, 1952 in Guthrie Center, Iowa. She passed away Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at EveryStep Kavanagh House in Des Moines, Iowa.
Dorothy graduated from Panora-Linden High School in 1971. She went to work at Panora State Bank for the next 43 years, retiring in 2014. On May 23, 1992, she married David Turner at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. They made their home at Lake Panorama before moving into Panora in 2016.
Dorothy enjoyed sewing and was especially proud of her angel gowns and denim quilts, being with her family especially her granddaughter and great-granddaughter, and she took great pride in her home.
Dorothy was a member of the First Christian Church, where she was past treasurer and taught Sunday School, and was a member of W.F.P.F (Women for Panora's Future).
She is survived by her husband, David Turner of Panora; son, Jay Antrim of Panora; granddaughter, Haylea (Dominic) Clayton and great-granddaughter, Vivian of Panora; sisters, Pam (Larry) Godwin of Redfield; Pat Meacham of Stuart; and Ellen (Tom) Campbell of Panora. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Karen Embrey, and brother Larry Embrey.
Memorial services will be 4:30 P.M., Monday, November 4, 2024 at the Panora First Christian Church with visitation starting at 2:00 P.M. until service time. Burial of her cremains will be held at a later date in the West Linn Cemetery, near Linden, Iowa.
Memorials may be left to the Panora First Christian Church.
