PRINCETON - Douglas “Doug” Johnson, 74, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 13, 2026 with his loving family by his side. He was a devoted husband of 50 years to Kathy (Donahue) Johnson, with whom he raised three children and relished in the joys of four granddaughters. He leaves behind his son Eric and wife Jessica of Sterling, MA, his daughter Elizabeth and husband Brian of Glocester, RI and his youngest son Daniel and wife Samantha of Jefferson, MA. He had the joy of being a grandfather to his four granddaughters Natalie and Sarah of Sterling, MA as well as Rosemary and Abigail of Glocester, RI.

Doug was born and raised in Framingham, Massachusetts and later moved to Boston for college where he met his soon to be wife. He attended Boston University and later Wentworth Institute of Technology earning a degree in Mechanical Power Engineering in 1974. Doug spent his career as a mechanical contractor, owning and operating businesses Johnson & Bouvier and later DF Johnson. He was passionate about his work and loved what he did.

He enjoyed time spent at the beach at Topsail Island, North Carolina and Ogunquit, Maine. He loved his many dogs, working in his yard, spending time with loved ones and stopping for a chat with a friend.

A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, April 17 from 11:00am-12:30pm at Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. Private burial to follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Princeton, MA.

Doug’s family extends their heartfelt gratitude to his devoted caregivers at Sterling Village Skilled Nursing and Rehab Center for the compassionate and loving care they provided following his battle with complications from a stroke. To honor Doug, please spend time with your loved ones, make it to the beach this summer, find passion in the work you do everyday and pat any dog that comes your way.
