Born on June 25, 1937, in Beaufort, NC, Helen was the daughter of the late Preston and Nina Styron. Additionally, Helen worked part-time at the Core Sound Waterfowl Museum on Harkers Island, sharing her knowledge and warmth with visitors.
Helen loved the Lord and was a devoted member of Free Grace Wesleyan Church. The Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 128 was also very important to Helen. A woman of many talents, Helen expressed her creativity through sewing and crafting beautiful quilts. She generously shared her quilts with loved ones as well as donating them for local fundraising efforts. Helen loved working with flowers, always in awe of their beauty and the happiness they brought to others. She appreciated harvest time, taking great pleasure in canning her favorite fruits and vegetables. Nothing gave her greater pleasure than bringing her family together around the table for delicious home-cooked meal and quality fellowship.
Helen will be lovingly remembered as a devoted wife, wonderful mother, and a cherished “Nana” and “Nannie” to her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Her legacy of love, kindness, and service will continue to inspire those who knew her.
