PERRYSVILLE: Vivian Marie Wendling passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 8, 2026, in West View Healthy Living in Wooster, surrounded by her family at the age of 95.
She was born on October 3, 1930, to parents Raymond & Gerladine (Miller) Peters in
Loudonville, Ohio. After Vivian graduated from Loudonville High School with the class of 1948, she married Ted C. Wendling on January 13, 1949. The pair raised 4 children together and were married for 68 years until Ted's passing in February of 2017.

She thoroughly enjoyed planning and preparing nutritious food for all the students throughout her time in the district.
In her spare time, she found joy in cooking, gardening, canning, sewing, crocheting, and quilting. Vivian was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Perrysville. She always made sure to supply each church function with homecooked food and assisted the congregation as needed. Ted and Vivian always attended family events and were there to provide support, encouragement, and love. Vivian lovingly made countless items of clothing and blankets for her family and became well known for her famous layered Jello molds, each one a true labor of love. Her devotion and love were felt by the family and within the community.
She is survived by her two sons: Thomas (Linda) Wendling of Gainesville, FL and Larry (Cindy) Wendling of Westerville; one daughter: Patty (Doug) Shannon of Perrysville; seven grandchildren: Matthew (Sybil) Wendling, Dr. Adam (Dr. LindaLe) Wendling, Michelle (Josh) Gray, Heath (Nicole) Shannon; Lindsay (Matthew) Carr; John (Heidi) Wendling, and Gretchen (Aaron) Crabtree; 17 great-grandchildren: Alexander (Elizabeth), William and Penelope Wendling, Tommy and Gwendolyn Wendling, Helaina and Calum Gray, Fiona and Lochlan Shannon, Harper and Hudson Carr, Olivia, Tatum, and Regan Wendling, Chelsea (Collin) Lindsey, Larkin and Kennedy Crabtree; one great-great grandchild Jack Lindsey; and her sister Ramona (Tony) Purcell.
