William Ray Ransom was affectionately called “Uncle Ray”, born to Howard Ransom and Bertha McChristian Ransom on February 15th, 1932 in Unionville, Tennessee. William was the 8th of 10 children. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Samuel, Elizabeth, John, Grace, Lucille, Howard, Thurman, Pauline and Freeland; and his son, Franklin “Frankie” Everett. William was educated in the Bedford County School System. He was a member of Hurricane Creek Missionary Baptist Church, in Shelbyville, TN.

As a young man William moved to New York City, while there he worked several jobs, one being a short order cook and a construction worker. He later went on to be a member of excavator's Union Local 731 which he remained until retiring in 1981. He was married to Claudette “ Alma” Theobolds on November 20th, 1976; she preceded him in death. William's passion was fishing, which he enjoyed immensely, driving his Cadillac, being a sharp dresser was a must, traveling and car racing were some of his hobbies. He never met a stranger he wouldn’t help. However, he didn’t tolerate any mess.

At his sunset, Ray was 92 and leaves to mourn four daughters, Debra “Debbie” Everett, Maddie Brown, Jasmine Theobolds and Bernice King; three grandsons, Jerome Eatmon, J’ques Everett and Daniel Everett; four great grandchildren, Londyn Eatmon, JaMarcus Eatmon, Aaria Weeks and Sierra Weeks; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Uncle Ray, we were all your kids and you were our favorite.
