Edward K. ‘Eddie’ Sanders, Jr., 89, of Hodges, husband of Jane Graham Sanders, died Monday, December 9, 2024, at NHC – Greenwood. He was born in Summerville, SC to the late Edward K. Sanders, Sr. and Mary Lord Waring Sanders.
Eddie graduated from Summerville High School in 1953 and earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Erskine College in 1962. Following his education, he served his country proudly in the United States Army. After his service, he embarked on a professional journey that began with his employment with Monsanto in Greenwood before retiring from Fiberweb in Simpsonville.
A man of many interests, Eddie found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was an enthusiastic golfer who enjoyed spending time on the greens and he loved his Ford trucks. He had a deep appreciation for animals, cherishing the companionship that they brought into his life, especially his beloved dog, Jasper. A passionate supporter of the SC Gamecocks, Eddie wore his loyalty to the team with pride. He also loved the Summerville Green Wave football team. A Mason and Hejaz Shriner, he was a member of Greenwood Chapter No. 37 RAM. Eddie was also a member of The Episcopal Church of the Resurrection.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Furlow.
Eddie is survived by his wife of 56 years, Jane, of the home; two daughters, Elizabeth Sanders of Charleston, Virginia ‘Ginny’ Sears (Phillip) of Abbeville; two grandchildren, Caroline Campbell and Callum Campbell; two cousins, Rosa Thronton Cherry of Kingstree, SC and Frances Shelton of Simpsonville, SC.
The family will receive friends 10:00AM – 11:00AM, Monday, December 16, 2024, at The Episcopal Church of the Resurrection, Greenwood, SC. A service to celebrate Eddie’s life begin at 11:00AM, Monday, in the church sanctuary with Rev. Mary Balfour Dunlap officiating.
