Elaine Ruth Juhl July 3, 1936 – September 22, 2024
Elaine Ruth Juhl, 88, of Hills, MN, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2024. Born on July 3, 1936, Elaine lived a life rich in dedication to her family, filled with love, and fueled by a passion for sports and caring for others.
Work ethic and faith were instilled in Elaine early and often. Elaine graduated from high school in Martin, MI, and Calvin College before starting her career as a nurse. Later in life, she transitioned to cooking for residents in nursing homes, a role she embraced with compassion, often balancing this job while raising six children and working a second job. Her dedication to those she cared for was evident in her work, where she brought love and nourishment to all who needed it.
An avid sports fan, Elaine's loyalty to the Minnesota Vikings and Minnesota Twins never wavered. She was also a competitive bowler, traveling across the United States to participate in tournaments. Elaine found joy in country music, especially the songs of Alan Jackson, which were a constant source of comfort and delight throughout her life.
“Elaine's love for her family was immeasurable. Her grandchildren lovingly remember her as Grandma E, a constant source of love and support. She was their biggest cheerleader, deeply involved in their daily lives, from schooling and sports to friendships. Elaine's homes were a testament to her pride in her family, filled with pictures and news clippings of her children and grandchildren, each one a symbol of the love she cherished for them.”
“Elaine epitomized sacrifice and hard work, always doing the right thing without hesitation. She lived with grace and gratitude, praising God in every facet of her life. Her faith was central to her being, and she was a devoted member of the First Lutheran Church in Middle River, MN, where she found comfort and community.”
“Have you ever had someone so important in your life that you have no idea where you would be without them? My Grandma Elaine is a huge part of my success and overall life. If she hadn’t been a part of my life, I really don’t believe I would be as successful or happy as I am today.”
Elaine is survived by her sisters, Sandra Tinklenberg and Nancy Tuinstra; her children, Sarah Hillestad (David Hillestad), Cheryl Wilson (Jeff Wilson), Merlyn Brockhouse (Lori Brockhouse), Loren Brockhouse (Whitney Custer), Steve Brockhouse, Howard Brockhouse, Pam Klein (Fred Klein), and Janice Juhl; along with 11 grandchildren: Elizabeth Hutchison, Jerimiah Brockhouse, Lindsey Palmer, Megan Cooper, Grant Brockhouse, Abbie Brockhouse, Aspen Brockhouse, Izzy Brockhouse, Joshua Brockhouse, Maxwell Davis, Riggs Custer and 6 great-grandchildren.
