Elbert Sutton, 93, passed peacefully at his home that he dearly loved on Saturday morning, November 23, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rodney and Ophelia Strickland Sutton; his wife of 63 years, Romell Sutton; sons Jimmy Sutton and Claxton Sutton; a daughter, Brenda Thornton; brothers Horace Sutton and Rodney Sutton, Jr.; and grandsons, Jamie Sutton, Chad Sutton, and Rodney Cox.
Elbert is survived by his children; son Marion "Mac" Sutton, and daughters, Kay Fields and Margaret Sue Sutton;a trusted and loving special third daughter/caregiver, Cynthia Smith; brothers, "Tink" Sutton (Edna Earle) and Ralph Sutton (Joan); six grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 9 great-great-grandchilden, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 26 from 12:00-1:00PM at Dunn Funeral Home in Newton Grove. Funeral Service will be held at 1:00PM. Entombment will be held at Hillcrest Cemetery immediately following.
Elbert was a true "jack-of-all-trades". He worked as a Maintenance Supervisor for House of Autry for 27 years, owned his own construction company and farmed. He loved to plow and tend to his own garden, loved his fur babies, and traveling to the mountains.
The Elbert Sutton family would especially like to thank Gentiva Hospice for their loving care of their father.
