Elizabeth Smith Hupp Gandee, 87, of Parkersburg, passed away October 23, 2024 at her residence. She was born May 1, 1937, of Parkersburg, a daughter to the late Eugene D. and Sarah Metz Armstrong.
She was a 1955 graduate of Parkersburg High School, and a 1958 graduate of the Camden Clark School of Nursing where she received her RN degree. She retired from Corning Glass after several years of service and also at Shell Chemical as a plant nurse. She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Mineral Wells, and was a member of the Order of Eastern Star.
She is survived by one daughter, Beth Ann Smith (Mike Ballangee) of Vienna; two sons, Mike Smith (Patty) of Vienna, and John E. Smith IV (Margie) of Parkersburg; one brother, Eugene Armstrong, Colorado Springs, CO.; ten grandchildren; several great and great-great grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Kathy Armstrong of Louisiana.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husbands, John E. Smith III, Douglas Hupp, and Paul Leo Gandee; a brother, Robert Armstrong, and a sister-in-law, Peggy Armstrong.
Funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m., Monday, October 28, 2024 and Lambert Tatman Funeral Home, south Parkersburg with Rev. Dr. Mary Beth McCloy. Burial will follow at Parkersburg Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held Sunday, October 27, 2024 from 6 – 8 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to service.
