Mary Ellen Brewer, 89 of Beardstown passed away Thursday, September 19, 2024, at her residence surrounded by family. Ellen was born on September 18, 1935, in Beardstown, the daughter of Anastasio and Vicenta Cansino. She married Thomas Brewer on November 27, 1954, and he preceded her in death.
Mary Ellen is survived by her daughter, Jennifer (John) Stambaugh; her son, Clinton (Valeria) Brewer, grandchildren, Marissa Stambaugh, Andrew (Katie) Stambaugh, Crystal (Devon Lehmkuhl) Fry, Jennifer (Harold) Ward, Rebecca Spears; Great-Grandchildren, Allison Stambaugh, Victoria Stambaugh, Isaac Stambaugh, Logan Fry, Cody Fry, Ashley (Jaden Sabino) Fry, Ryan Ward, Joseph (Madeline) Ward, Madeline Ward, Kyle Spears, Andrew Spears; great-great-grandchildren, Avery Spears, Emma Miller, Ella Mae Spears, Mercedes Sabino; Sisters, Bett Jacquart, Rita Cansino, Rosalie Vincent; and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; Husband, Thomas Brewer; Son, Thomas "Jamie" Brewer; brothers, Sebastian Cansino, Leo Cansino, Sisters; Jessie Nila, Louise Schroll, Ann Cruz, Roberta Baer, Virginia Hall, Esther Knight; and one Grandson Nathan Ryan.
Mary Ellen was a patient woman, a loving homemaker, a hardworking volunteer, a devoted Christian, a tender caregiver, and a talented seamstress. She loved to bake, attend bible study, and quilt in her spare time. Above all, Mary Ellen loved her family and ensured everyone was cared for.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 25 at St Alexius Catholic Church of Beardstown. The family will meet friends from 9:00 a.m. until service time. Memorials are suggested to Cass-Schuyler Hospice or St Alexius Catholic Church. Sager Funeral Home is in Charge of Arrangements. Condolences may be left online at www.sagerfuneralhome.com.
