Jacksonville, FL. Mrs. Carloyn McGee put Mrs. Elouise' life in prospective, she wrote "From the heart of Carolyn J. McGee, Mr. Slater and Mrs. Elouise Thorpe with their children became our neighbors on Troyan Lane. They were both great examples of "The Village Raising The Children". Mrs. Elouise embraced my siblings and I, making us feel welcome at their home, and sharing many meals with us. She was always kind, patient, willing to help however she could. Her gentle demeanor drew me close to her, the same as my mom. I felt I could sit down and talk to her about any concern or problem I had. She would listen and give me such positive and constructive advice. Whenever I would return home and got to visit with her, I found her to be the same positive spiritual lady. During my last visit with her, she told me to keep my children in prayer, that God would guide their mind, touch their heart, speak in their ear, and God would do the rest. I did as she told me. I am so proud of the results. Mrs. Elouise will always live in my heart until we meet again around the throne of God."
