Enrique “Ricky” Rodriguez, age 70, passed away peacefully at home on January 21, 2026, in New Britain, Connecticut.
Born in Ponce, Puerto Rico, Enrique built a life rooted in love, family, and community. He was the devoted husband of Luz Alba Rodriguez, with whom he shared 41 wonderful years of marriage.
Enrique was a loving father to Mario Rodriguez, Kermit Rodriguez, Marjorie Rodriguez, and Charlie Rodriguez. He was a proud grandfather to 12 grandchildren and a cherished great-grandfather to three great-grandchildren, all of whom were the joy of his life.
A lifelong lover of music, Enrique’s passion extended beyond listening. He was an active musician and proudly led and performed with two bands, La Ciencia Latina and Orquesta Exclusiva. Music was central to who he was and brought happiness to everyone around him.
He was also a devoted sports fan, especially of the New York Yankees, following his team with great enthusiasm.
Enrique dedicated many years of service as a chef at Central Connecticut State University, where he was known for his commitment, skill, and pride in his work. He retired in 2020 after a long and fulfilling career.
Above all, Enrique will be remembered for his warmth, generosity, and unwavering love for his family. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Calling hours and funeral services will be held on Friday January 23, 2026 from 11 AM to 1 PM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 So. Main St. New Britain. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
