Erminia Castillo Obituary

Erminia "Minnie" Urquidez Castillo, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 12, 2024, in Carlsbad, NM. She was born October 9, 1925, in Loving, NM, to Martin and Delores (Lujan) Urquidez.
Minnie grew up on the family farm in Loving, NM. Although life on the farm was not easy, she grew up experiencing love, care, and security provided by her closely knit family. On June 16, 1947, she married Ines G. Castillo in Loving, NM, where they lived until their move to Tulare, California. After their short stay there, she, her husband and infant daughter, Rosie returned to Carlsbad, where she remained until her final days. She and her husband's union formed a small family of four, that included their beloved daughter, Rosie and beloved son, Ruben.
Minnie was dedicated to maintaining a stable home for her small family. She enjoyed cooking, knitting, sewing, listening to music, and spending time with her family and friends.
Minnie was preceded in death by her husband Ines of 61 years; daughter Rosie Castillo Gomez; sisters: Velma Marquez, and Rosa Escobar; brothers: Moises Urquidez, Samuel Urquidez, Gilberto Urquidez, Raul Urquidez, and Ray Urquidez, and parents Martin and Delores Urquidez.
She is survived by her son, Ruben Castillo and wife Rachel; grandchildren: Robert Gomez and wife Becca, Michael Castillo and wife Amy, Joseph Castillo and wife Brenan, and Veronica Castillo and husband Leland, and great-grandchildren: Adrian, Cami, Joey, Bobby, Isaiah, Lex, Leland, and Charli and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, October 22, 2024, from 1-6:00 p.m. at West Funeral Home. A rosary will take place on Wednesday, October 23rd at 9:30 a.m. at San Jose Catholic Church followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. with Father Juan Carlos Ramirez officiating. Burial will follow at Carlsbad Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Robert Gomez, Michael Castillo, Joseph Castillo, Adrian Gomez and Mark Urquidez.
