Ernie Lee Bowman, 65, passed away on October 27, 2024, in Whiteland, Indiana.
Ernie was born on June 26, 1959 in Shelby, Ohio to his parents, the late Ernest and Mary Bowman. Ernie married his wife, Song Kim, in 1979 in Korea, where they met shortly after he enlisted in the Army. Ernie retired from the United States Army after honorably serving for 20 years as a diesel mechanic. He then worked for Caterpillar for 23 years, recently retiring in April 2024.
Ernie was dedicated to his work and was known for his passion for working on cars and his talent for fixing just about anything. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, and will be dearly missed.
Ernie is survived by his loving wife, Song; children, Evlin (Eric) Cooper and Mary (Matt) Wickizer; four grandchildren, Austin, Isabella, Liam, and Issac. He was preceded in death by his father, Earl, his stepmother, Joann, and his mother, Mary.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family for Ernie's grandchildren fund.
The family will host a visitation on Monday, November 4, 2024, at Jessen Funeral Home & Simple Cremation ~ Whiteland Chapel from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with a memorial service immediately following. Military honors will take place after the service.
