Obituary published on Legacy.com by McKoon Funeral Home & Crematory on Mar. 26, 2026.
Evelyn Robertson Smith, born September 23, 1933, in
Pompano Beach, Florida, lived a full life centered on faith, family, and friends. She was the daughter of Christine Martin Robertson and Samuel L. Robertson. She later moved to
Newnan, Georgia, where she graduated from East Coweta High School in 1952.
Evelyn was a lifelong member of Mt. Gilead Methodist Church and a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, relative, and friend who touched the lives of all who knew her. She was a devoted and faithful wife to Carl Eugene Smith, with whom she shared 64 years of marriage.
Evelyn was a compassionate caregiver to the sick and elderly, and a selfless and faithful source of care and support to her family and friends. She gave of herself freely, always putting others before her own needs.
An exceptional gardener, Evelyn considered it her true passion. To say she had a green thumb would be an understatement. She nurtured everything she planted with patience and care, creating beauty and abundance wherever she worked. She embraced organic living long before it became popular, and that dedication carried into her cooking, where her meals were not only healthy but truly beyond delicious. In addition to gardening, she was a talented seamstress with a gift for sewing and crochet.
A simple soul who lived an honest life, Evelyn positively impacted all who knew her. There is no doubt that God welcomed her through the Pearly Gates with open arms, saying, "Well done, my good and faithful servant."
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Eugene Smith; her parents, Christine and Samuel Robertson; and her siblings, Leroy Robertson, Betty Robertson Brown, and Harry Robertson.
She is survived by her siblings, Charles Robertson and Linda Robertson Caldwell; her children, Don (Donna) Smith, Cynthia (Greg) Owens, and Joey (Tammy) Smith; her grandchildren, Will (Sarah) Smith, Kate (Scott) Goodson, Wesley (Kasey) Owens, Russell (Victoria) Owens, Daniel (Amanda) Smith, and Heather (Kelby) Holt; and her great-grandchildren, Elsie Goodson, Brooks Goodson, James Owens, Camilla Owens, Charles Owens, Thomas Smith, Evelyn Smith, Sam Smith, Ben Smith, Lilah Holt, Kannon Holt, and Harley Holt.
Above all, Evelyn will be remembered for her kindness, strength, and unwavering love for her family. Her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched and the traditions she passed down.
A heartfelt thank you to Ms. Ann Marie Lewis for her kind and gentle care.
