Evonn Ingram Obituary

Evonn R. Ingram a life long resident of Wilmington, Delaware, passed away on October 7, 2024. She was the daughter of Stella and Eugene Ross.
Evonn was a proud graduate of Howard High School and attended New York University. She was the beloved wife of Edward K. Ingram who predeceased her. They were married for 42 years. She is survived by her daughters Niki Ingram and Janis McElrath; her grandchildren, David McElrath, Tori McElrath and Andrew Unthank; her son-in-law Ruben McElrather; her sister Kathleen Cephas; and a devoted nephew Dion Wilson. She is also survived by other cherished nephews, nieces and cousins. In addition to her parents and her husband she was predeceased by her sister Eugenia Wilson.
Except for a brief time when she worked at the Wilmington Public Library, Evonn spent her career working in daycare. She was the director of Hilltop Lutheran Day Care Center for more than twenty years and enjoyed having generations of children pass through the center.
Evonn was a woman of many interests. She loved to cook and to explore new recipes. Her cookbook collection was extensive. She was a voracious reader and generally read 6 to 8 books a week. She also loved to travel and especially enjoyed time at the beach.
Funeral services will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church on Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at 10 am. Visitation will be from 9:15 am to 10:00 am. Interment to follow at Gracelawn Cemetery.
