Felix Cutruzzula Obituary

Felix Cutruzzula Jr., age 92, born and raised in East Liberty and a longtime resident of Penn Hills, passed away peacefully at home on August 25, 2024. He was the son of the late Felix and Maria (Pologruto) Cutruzzula. Felix was the beloved husband of the late Elizabeth (Wall/Freeman) Cutruzzula for 67 years, a loving father to Cathy (Don) Hezlep and Jeff (Paula) Cutruzzula, and a proud grandfather to Greg (Beth) Snyder, Matthew (Gretchen) Snyder, Todd Cutruzzula, and Lauren Cutruzzula. He was also a cherished great-grandfather to Nolan, Julia, Mason, Gwen, June, Francis, and Paulina.
Felix's fondest memories included playing football under the legendary coach Pete Dimperio at Westinghouse High School and for Jack Stoeber, coach of the Thiel College Football Tomcats, during their undefeated 1950 season. He maintained lifelong friendships with his teammates.
Felix was inducted into the Pittsburgh City League Hall of Fame and was celebrated as an outstanding defensive and offensive end, contributing to the Westinghouse Bulldogs' City Championship victories in 1947 and 1948. He was honored by the Pennsylvania House of Representatives as the "best of the best" student-athlete of his era.
After college, Felix embarked on a 40-year career with the USPS. He was known for his loving, kind, and sweet nature. Felix took immense pride in his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom he loved deeply. He will be greatly missed.
