Frederick L. Buckley, 92
Frederick L. Buckley, 92 of West Portsmouth, died Thursday, October 17, 2024, at SOMC Hospice. He was born January 11, 1932, in Portsmouth, to the late Daniel and Mae Elliott Buckley.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Margaret "Peggy" Lemons Buckley, who he married on August 18, 1951, and a sister, Anna Louise Sagraves.
Fred was a United States Air Force veteran of the Korean War and was a member of the James Dickey Post 23 American Legion for over 60 years. He was member and Past Master of Nauvoo Masonic Lodge # 769, where he was also the lodge secretary. Fred was also a Kentucky Colonel and a member of Dry Run Church of Christ. Fred retired from the Portsmouth Daily Times where he was a Newsroom Pressman
Fred is survived by; 3 daughters, Louann (Ernest) Ridout, Lynn (Tom) Perry and Susan (Rick) Vicars; 7 grandchildren, Amy Powell, Amanda Crawford, T.J. Perry, Chad Perry, Travis Perry, Josh Cannon and Jennifer Estep; along with 16 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, October 22, 2024 at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth with Mark Seevers officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Burial Park with military graveside rites by the James Dickey Post 23 American Legion. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 to 8:00 PM on Monday and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. A Masonic Service will be held on Monday evening at 8:00 PM given by the Nauvoo Masonic Lodge # 769. The family wishes to thank SOMC Hospice for their wonderful care.
