Gail Morgan Obituary

Gail P. Morgan, a 67 year resident of Beacon and formerly of Long Island, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on October 11, 2024. She was 78 years old.
Gail was born on May 21, 1946 on Long Island, the daughter of the late George and Helen Leda Bushey Powers. On January 19, 1986 at Star Bethlehem Church in Beacon, she married Edward Morgan. They were together for 39 years and married for 24 years until his death in 2010.
Gail or "Meem" as she was known by many, was a former owner of Westside Taxi in Beacon. She also worked for the Beacon City School District. Meem was a parishioner of St. Joachim – St. John the Evangelist Church. She enjoyed reading, cooking and crocheting. Meem was also a strong supporter of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. She also was a part of the Youth Resource Development Corp (YRDC) for many years.
Meem is survived by her children, Lisa Riley, Richard Heinrich (Tony), Dennis Hallock (Nancy), John Hallock (Toniann), Lance Morgan (Alexia); her step-daughter, Lisa Morgan; her grandchildren, Travis Childress, Christopher Riley, James Hasher, Blade Heinrich, Dennis Hallock, Jr., Devvon Hallock, Nicholas Hallock, Kayla Morgan, Johnson Morgan, Gia Morgan and Lance Morgan, Jr.; her great grandchildren, Katalea Heinrich, Christian Riley and Maverick Hallock; her brothers, Stephen Powers (Carmen) and Paul Powers; a host of nieces and nephews and extended family; and her beloved companion known as "mommy's good girl," Alora. Meem and Edward had opened their home to many children over the years and she is also survived by all of them.
In addition to her beloved husband, Edward and her parents, Meem was predeceased by her step-son, Wayne Morgan, grandchildren, Michael Riley, Jr. and Brittany Limitone, and son-in-law, Michael Riley, Sr.
Family and friends will gather on Wednesday, October 16 from 2 to 6 p.m. at Riverview Funeral Home by Halvey, 2 Beekman Street, Beacon. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 17 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Fishkill Rural Cemetery, 801 Route 9, Fishkill.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in memory of Meem may be made to either St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or to the Dutchess County ASPCA.
