Garry D. Benson, 77, of Eldora, Iowa, passed away on Monday, October 27, 2025, at Eldora Specialty Care. Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at Abels Funeral and Cremation Service, Creps Chapel in Eldora, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Following the service interment will take place at the East Lawn Memorial Gardens in Eldora.
Garry was born on September 8, 1948, to Paul and Hazel (Fleenor) Benson in Osage, Iowa. He was one of five children and raised on the family farm near Orchard, Iowa. Garry met the love of his life Marjorie, and they were united in marriage on September 2, 1990, in New Hampton, Iowa, at the First Methodist Church. Garry spent many years working pharmaceutical sales representative as an Agent before retiring in the 1990’s. While Garry and Marj spent their time in New Hampton, Garry was the owner and operator of Benny’s Redemption Center. They spent nearly 20 years in New Hampton before relocating to Eldora in 2008. Garry had many hobbies including golfing, bowling, and was part of a pool league. Above all, Garry was an avid Cubs fan.
Garry is survived by his wife Marj of 35 years, blended family of 5 children; Heather (John) Doyle, Candace Benson, Tracie (David) Akers, Chris Simon, Jeff Stephenson, 13 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and 4 siblings; Pat (Terry) Christenson, Dennis (Joanie) Benson, Connie (Bill) Winkel, and Bruce (Angie) Benson. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one grandchild Dylan Debruyn.
