Gary Handel Obituary

Gary Kirk Handel, a retired pipeline operator from Colonial Pipeline, has peacefully passed away on March 29, 2024, at his residence in Broaddus, Texas. He was surrounded by his loving family during his final moments.

Born on September 1, 1952, in Port Arthur, Texas, Gary was known as a selfless and simple man with a heart of gold. Throughout his life, he found joy in the simplest of pleasures and brought happiness to those around him. His hobbies and interests were a reflection of his vibrant spirit - he was a music lover who enjoyed dancing, an enthusiastic motorcyclist and boat enthusiast, and a master of the grill who loved cooking briskets to perfection. Gary had a zest for life and cherished every moment spent having a good time with his family and friends.

Among his proudest accomplishments, Gary served as the drummer for the Back Home Country Boys and was hailed as a Fisherman Extraordinaire. His passion for music and fishing shone brightly in everything he did, adding color to the lives of those he touched.

In mourning his loss, Gary is survived by his beloved wife, Roxane LeBlanc Handel of Broaddus, Texas; his daughters, Shanna Ruth Lindstrom and husband Don of Graham, Texas, and Mandy Ann McMichael and husband Heath of Keller, Texas; his stepson, Steven Marc Menard of Beaumont, Texas; as well as his cherished grandchildren, Kodie Ruth Gough, Hallie Beth Gough, Blakely Ann McMichael, Presley Ryan McMichael, and Beau Bradley McMichael.

Gary is preceded in death by his parents Mable (Lee) Handel and Ralph Handel; along with his brother, Glenn Handel.

With his warm smile and kind heart, Gary Kirk Handel has left behind a legacy of love and laughter that will be dearly missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in peace knowing that he made the world a brighter place during his time with us.

Cremation services are under the direction of Melancon Levingston Funeral Home in Nederland.
