Funeral services for Gary W. Jacobson, age 83, of Rochester, Minnesota, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, May 19, 2025, at Peace United Church of Christ (1503 Second Ave. NE, Rochester). Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow at Oakwood East Cemetery.
Gary Wayne Jacobson was born on January 11, 1942, in Bradgate, Iowa, to Burton and Clara (Erickson) Jacobson. He passed away peacefully at his home on May 14, 2025.
After graduating from high school, Gary proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1959 to 1963. On February 17, 1973, he married Connie Crow, and from that day forward, the two were inseparable. Gary welcomed Connie's children as his own, and together they built a life rooted in love, respect, and partnership. As Connie faced the challenges of multiple sclerosis, Gary remained by her side with steady compassion and care-never wavering in his devotion through the years.
Gary enjoyed a long career at IBM, retiring in 1991. In his free time, he loved reading, fishing, playing poker, and traveling-especially on trips to Las Vegas with Connie. A lifelong Green Bay Packers fan, he found great joy in watching sports and cheering on his favorite teams.
Gary is survived by his daughters, Ginger (Scott) Knapp and Kimberly (Jason) Dahl, both of Rochester; five beloved granddaughters, Taylor Knapp, Logan Knapp, Madeline Dahl, Kennis (Channing) Tipton, and Claire Dahl; and two great-grandchildren, Gianna Tipton and Grayson Tipton. He is also survived by his brother, Earl (Mardell) Jacobson of Waseca, and many cherished nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Connie; a daughter, Gina; two sisters, Shirley and Norma; and three brothers, Don, Arlo, and Joe.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, P.O. Box 91891, Washington, D.C. 20090-1891.
