EAST POULTNEY-Gary Idwal Jones, 71, of East Poultney died Monday February 3, 2025, at the Jack Byrne Center in Lebanon, NH following a brief illness.
He was born on April 29, 1954, in Rutland, the son of Chester W. and Marjorie > (McIntyre) Jones.
Gary grew up in East Poultney and graduated from the Poultney High School in 1972 then from the University of Maine earning an associate's degree.
He married Sherry L. Reed on May 22, 1982.
He was employed as a truck driver for many years; the last 10 years by Cassella Construction.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, chopping wood, spending time with his pets and family and was an avid bird watcher.
Survivors include his wife Sherry Jones of East Poultney, a daughter Amber Williams and husband Charles of Fair Haven, 2 sons Cheston "Chet" Jones and wife Emily of Wells and Nicholas "Nick" Jones and companion Shannon of Poultney, 2 sisters Sherry D. Davis and Betsy Kelley, a brother Tarance "Terry Jones all of East Poultney, 11 grandchildren Catherine, Emma, Lucas, Carter, Dominick, Maxson, Gabriel, Julia, Liam, Annaleice and Isabelle, several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his dad in 1988, mom in 2013, a granddaughter Alorah in 2019 and a brother-in-law Donald "Dinky" Davis on January 19, 2025.
Friends may call from 3pm until 5pm on Saturday February 15, 2025, at the Durfee Funeral Home, 119 North Main St, Fair Haven, VT. Burial will be at a later date in the Pleasant View Cemetery in Middletown Springs.
Memorial contributions may be made to Gary Jones Memorial Fund for his grandchildren.
