Gaylan Wayne Janssen, 70, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, died September 23, 2024 at Gothenburg Health surrounded by his family.
He was born November 19, 1953 in Gothenburg, NE, son of Wayne and Eileen (Gengenbach) Janssen.
Gaylan attended college in Hastings then moved to Kearney, where he worked in carpentry and construction. He then moved to Lincoln, and worked for Conklin for a period of time doing sales and product application. Following living in Lincoln he moved back to Gothenburg to run the family farm in 1980. Gaylan enjoyed all aspects of the farm and was active in the Trinity Lutheran church and the Gothenburg community.
Survivors include daughter, Sarah (Mark) DeNunzio of Littleton, CO, father, Wayne Janssen of Gothenburg; granddaughter, Kimsie DeNunzio; two step-grandsons, Nick (Breelle) DeNunzio, Vinny (Irma Mitchel) DeNunzio, two brothers, Gregory (Barb) Janssen of St. Paul, MN, and Kurt Janssen of Gothenburg and nephew Matt Janssen of Munich, Germany.
Gaylan was preceded in death by his mother Eileen, brother Kent and nephew John Janssen.
Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska; Thursday, September 26, 2024, 1:00-7:00 pm. with the family present from 4:00-6:00 pm.
Services will be held, 10:30 am, Friday, September 27, 2024 at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Jeff Cottingham officiating.
Burial will follow in the American Lutheran Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to the Trinity Lutheran Church.
