Mrs. Geneva S. Russell, age 92 of LaFollette, passed away on Wednesday, July 30, 2025. She was a devoted charter member of Fundamental Missionary Baptist Church. Mrs. Russell dearly loved her church family and enjoyed singing for the Lord. She had a deep love of family, life, and was very much an outgoing and wonderful person. She is preceded in death by husband, Rev. Cillis Russell, sons, Harold David Russell, and Tom, Joe, and Bobby Russell, daughter, June Williams, parents, Alonzo and Emma (Moses) Shown, sisters and brothers, Ida Belle Shown, Irene Ballard, Letha Fraley, Clayton Shown, Avery Shown, Frank Shown, and Bill Shown, Grandchildren, Jerry Phillips, Vicky Joan Lovell, Tom Russell, Jr., Pamela Russell, Susan Russell, and Lana Russell.
She is survived by sons, Danny Russell (Gail) and Rev. Larry Russell (Brenda); daughter, Jean Daugherty (Virgil); grandchildren, Matthew, Abby, Rebecca, Aaron, Chris, Donna, Joyce, Janet, Kathy, Joey, Gloria Jean, and Beth; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; sister, Odessa Emory; brother, Ed Shown; former daughter-in-Law, Teresa Russell Padget; special caretakers, Carolyn and Michael Lowe; several nieces, nephews, cousins, her beloved church family, and other relatives and friends.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to nurses and staff of LaFollette Health and Rehab for their loving care.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 3, 2025, from 12:00 – 2:00 PM at Fundamental Missionary Baptist Church (597 Wildwood Circle, LaFollette, TN). Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM with her sons, Rev. Larry Russell and Danny Russell, and Rev. Kenny Gillum officiating. Interment will follow at Campbell Memorial Gardens. Walters Funeral Home of LaFollette is honored to be serving the family of Mrs. Geneva S. Russell.
