Mary Genevieve Haase (Gen), 97, died September 13, 2024 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home, Fort Dodge, IA.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Brigid's Catholic Church, Grand Junction, IA. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Grand Junction. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 pm Tuesday at the Slininger-Schroeder Funeral Home, Jefferson, IA.
Survivors include her daughter, Mary Kay Haase, Evansdale; son, Steve Haase (Diane Dubansky Haase), Denver; granddaughter, Cheyenne Gates, Waterloo; grandson, Jordan Gates, Cedar Falls; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Gen, daughter of Thomas L and Laura Kersey Higgins was born May 18, 1927, in Hardin Township, Greene County, Iowa. She attended Hardin Township Country School, St. Mary's Academy, Grand Junction, and graduated from Grand Junction Consolidated School in 1945. After graduation, she worked in offices in Des Moines, the Iowa State Employment Service in Perry, Farm Bureau in Boone, and Credit Bureau and Greene County REC in Jefferson.
She married Wilber E Haase on December 30, 1967 at St Brigid's Church at Grand Junction. They farmed in rural Boxholm for two years. They moved to rural Dayton and farmed there until they retired in 1994 to the Grand View Apartments in Dayton.
She belonged to Christ the King Church and St. Agnes Alter Society. She enjoyed family, friends and reading. She was a beloved mom, grandma, and Aunt Genny to so many.
