Genieve Shannon Obituary

I remember when I was a young SGT in the early 1990's, station at Fort Polk, LA and when I went to the CLX 6 store which at the time was in an old building, I was greeted by the very friendly lady. Her and I started talking and she told me her name was Genieve. From that day on Ms. Genieve and I became friends. The Soldiers just loved her. If something wasn't in stock, you could rest a sure she would order it for you. Ms. Genieve was a genuine person. She always had a smile and treated everyone that would enter the store with dignity and respect no matter what was the rank. After she retired from her job on Post, I would see her in the local community, ms. Genieve was always the same, very friendly. One day I saw Ms. Genieve with her daughter (Rosepine Mayor Duvall), small world, I didn't know that Ms. Genieve was the mayor mother until that day. To the mayor and her Family, Ms. Genieve was such a beautiful Lady both inside and out. The Soldiers loved her and for us retirees, we where always happy to see her out and about after she retired. To the Family, be strong and remember all those pleasant memories. Ms. Genieve was a queen, that loved her Family and was a true friend to a lots of people. She will be missed. The Family has a special angel in heaven.
