Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lawrence A. Jones & Sons Funeral Chapels - Missouri on Nov. 9, 2025.
"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day-and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing." 2 Timothy 4:7-8
George Jordon, Sr., 95, of Kansas City, MO was born January 3, 1930, in Okolona, Mississippi. He was the third of nine children born to the union of George and Margaret Jordon who preceded him in death along with his daughter Karen Jordon; his brothers Alex Jordon, William Jordon, Theodore Jordon, and Maceo Jordon; and his sister Ruth Woods.
He lived a life marked by faith, hard work, and dedication to family and community. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, enlisting on March 2, 1951, and being honorably discharged on February 9, 1953. During the Korean War, he was stationed in Germany, where he served with pride and honor.
After his service, he made his home in the Kansas City area, a move that would shape the rest of his life. It was there he met the love of his life, Jamesetta Hunt. The two were married on May 5, 1957, and together they built a beautiful life and family, raising four children: Karen, Aaron, Darrell, and George Jr.
Guided by his strong Christian faith, he joined Second Baptist Church, where he served faithfully as an usher and remained a devoted member for more than 60 years. His quiet strength, warm smile, and willingness to help others made him a cherished part of his church family.
He worked for many years at Wilson Packing House, where he was a skilled butcher and a proud Union Steward, always standing up for the rights and fair treatment of his fellow workers. After retiring, he and Jamesetta continued to work side by side, running their own business, Jordon Dresses and Wigs, in Kansas City, Missouri. Never one to sit still, he later invested in real estate, purchased homes and farm property, and even started his own construction company.
After Jamesetta's passing, life brought him full circle when he reconnected with his childhood sweetheart, Margaret Patterson, from Shannon, Mississippi. They were married in July of 2001 and shared many joyful years together, finding comfort and companionship in their later years.
George lived a life filled with purpose, faith, and love. On November 7, 2025, God called him home, leaving behind a legacy that will forever live in the hearts of his family and friends.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Margaret, three sons, Aaron, Darrell, and George Jr.; three beloved grandchildren, Sophia, Alexis, and Adriana; three brothers, Harvey Jordon, Samuel Jordon, Sr., and Marion Jordon, Sr. (Denise), four great grandchildren, Aurora, Asha, Aaliyah, and Kyle; and a host of nieces and nephews.
George will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his unwavering faith, his love for family, and his gentle, steady presence. To know him was to love him and to be loved by him was a blessing beyond measure. His journey on earth may have ended, but his spirit, lessons, and love will live on in all who were blessed enough to know him.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday November 21, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Second Baptist Church. Interment: Mount Moriah Cemetery. Visitation: 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at the Church.
